Collective Worship Coordinator: D Lochner

At St. Mark’s we are proud to offer pupils, members of staff and our wider community the opportunity to grow spiritually, through experiences of prayer, worship and reflection. Our collective worship strives to be inclusive, creative and inspirational. Collective worship can be experienced through: 

Mass

We celebrate Mass regularly at various points across the year including Feast Days and Holy Days of Obligation. We are fortunate to have St. Mark's church close by and share our attendance of Mass in school and at church. Each year we ensure each class has the opportunity to celebrate a class Mass or Liturgy regularly both in school and at church. Every term, each class attends Mass at St. Mark's Church.

Gospel Assembly

Every Monday, all pupils and staff come together to listen to, and reflect on, the previous Sunday's Gospel. These assemblies are often lead or supported by pupils and include music and drama suggested by Ten Ten.

Class Collective Worship

When we do not have a whole school gathering, pupils will experience prayer in their classes. Teachers offer opportunities to worship in different ways using music, silence, story, circle time, prayer and reflection. Our Chaplaincy team members are sometimes assigned to a class to help support pupils in planning their own Liturgical Prayer.

Celebration Liturgy

Every Friday the whole school gathers to celebrate all of the good work across the school.

Praise and Sing

Every Wednesday, the whole school comes together to sing hymns/songs and sessions begin or end with a prayer.

Personal Development

Each Thursday, we have a 'Personal Development' assembly which is where the children are taught about current topics, SMSC, British Values.
